Admission Process

 

Candidates applying to the University of Science and Technology must read the admission's criteria quite well to determine their eligibility to apply to the university.This step ensures that the applicant meets the basic requirements set forth by the university’s admission's office to proceed further into the application process. The process requires input from students regarding their type of high school degree, scores in specific subjects, the current overall grade/score, science and math subjects' scores, graduation year, major and related information.

1) The online application will start from the 6th of November 2019 till Tuesday 31st of May 2020.

2) The minimum requirements for the overall percentage of grades are determined each year after the results of high school; the following are the grades of the last academic year 2021/2022:

  • 75% for Egyptian Thanaweya Amma & STEM.
  • 85% for the American Diploma, CNISE, IGCSE, French Baccalaureate, Abitur, IB, Canadian high school certificate, Thanaweya Azhareya, Arab Thanaweya and equivalent certificates

 

3) Once the start of the admission process is announced, all candidates interested in joining the University of Science and Technology should fill the online application form.

4) All students who are currently enrolled in grade 12 or third secondary year are invited to apply before the final release of their final results and students who have old high school certificates (high school graduates of 2021 only).

5) Applicants must upload the following available documents as attachments to their application:

  • Available High school certificate or statements of results.
  • Birth certificate or national ID or a passport copy (male students should attach their National ID).
  • Proof of English proficiency if available (test scores of IELTS-academic or TOEFL-IBT - or Pearson PTE).
  • Passport–sized photo with a white background.
  • University transcript in case of old date high school graduation.

6) Applicants will receive an email from admission@zewailcity.edu.eg confirming their successful submission and will be assigned an applicant ID number, which should be kept with applicants for future correspondences with the university. This email includes Fawry link in which every Egyptian applicant will be required to deposit 750 EGP and Zewail City bank account details for every non-Egyptian applicant will be required to deposit 75 USD: non-refundable fees for the application.

7) All applications will be processed and short-listed candidates will be selected to sit for the Admission Test and for the English test.

8) Once all documents are in order, short-listed candidates will receive a notification email with the admission test date which will be held in the university campus, Zewail City of Science and Technology, Dr. Ahmed Zewail Road, October Gardens, 6th of October City, Giza, Egypt.

9) A sample of the admission test is available on Zewail City's website.

10) IGCSE and CNISE students with incomplete grades should email admission@zewailcity.edu.eg, using their application ID, the additional grades of their AL or ASL subjects released in August for a re-evaluation.

11) Applicants should keep a copy of the admission test email to present it at the university's gate along with their national ID card or passport.

12) Top candidates passing the admission test and satisfying the English requirements will make their personal interview at the same day or will be scheduled for online interview in another day.

13) Based on the results of the admission test, English test and the interview, successful short-listed candidates will receive an acceptance email from the university.

14) Upon receiving the acceptance email, accepted applicants have to show up and submit all the required credentials to the Office of Admission

15) Accepted candidates who fulfill the university’s English proficiency requirement will be able to start studying their credit hours' foundation courses immediately or with an intensive English program as per the below table:

Documents that must be submitted upon acceptance:

1- Original birth certificate.

2- Four passport–sized photos with white background.

3- Two copies of national ID for Egyptian students.

4- Military form نموذج ٢ for all male students and 6 gond for students with birth dates before 2000 (Egyptian males only).

5- Copy of passport for non-Egyptians.

6- General Medical certificate and HIV certificate for foreigners.

7- High school certificate.

8- High school certificate holders from outside Egypt must provide a copy of their residence proof. The proof must be authenticated by the Egyptian Cultural Counsellor or the Egyptian Embassy. An alternative would be presenting a passport indicating the entry and exit dates during the study period or presenting an entry/exit travel record.

9- An Original document of Arabic Language and Religion exams Thanaweya Amma level for foreign certificates' holders, if available.

10- Original TOEFL-IBT or IELTS or Pearson PTE-academic if applicable

11- The non-refundable down payment of the study cost

 

 High school certificate document requirements:

 

A. Egyptian secondary school (ثانوية عامة)

 

  • Original Thanaweya Amma Certificate or certified original “مستخرج رسمي”.

 

B. American High School Diploma

 

  • Original Final High School Transcript stamped by the school and the U.S. Accreditation Institution + stamp of الإدارة العامة للإمتحانات التابعة لوزارة التربية و التعليم
  • Final High School Diploma obtained from Egypt must be stamped by the school and the U.S. Accreditation Institution + stamp of الإدارة العامة للإمتحانات التابعة لوزارة التربية و التعليم
  • Certificates obtained from Egypt must be presented with جواب إفادة from school
  • Original SAT Score(s) stamped by the AMID-EAST and Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • For certificates obtained from schools outside Egypt - stamp of school and Ministry of Education, stamp of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of country of the certificate and stamp of Egyptian Embassy in country of certificate are required.
  • For certificates obtained from schools outside Egypt – Accreditation Letter from AMID-EAST (stamped by AMID-EAST and Ministry of Foreign Affairs) is required
  • Edadeyya Certificate (National system) or Proof of 12 years (International system) of schooling stamped by School and certified by the Educational Zone the school belongs to.
  • If proof of 12 years of schooling is obtained from outside Egypt required stamps are: the School stamp, the stamp of the Educational Zone and the Egyptian Embassy in that foreign country.
  • Original document of Arabic Language, Religion and Civics exams – Thanaweyya Amma level. (for Arab Nationals)
  • Student must provide the Admission Department with user name and password for their account for the College Board of SAT exam(s) 

 

 

C. IGCSE/GCSE

 

  • Original statement of results or original certificates stamped by the British Council, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and الإدارة العامة للإمتحانات (Ministry of Education).
  • IGSCE-Slips stamped by the British Council as copies of true documents will not be treated as originals and cannot be accepted.
  • If IGCSE Slips are obtained from outside Egypt, required stamp of British Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Egyptian Embassy in country of certificate(s)
  • Preparatory Certificate (اعدادية) or Primary Certificate (ابتدائية or proof of 12 years of schooling stamped by school and certified by the Educational Zone which the school belongs to.
  • If the proof of 12 years of schooling is obtained from outside Egypt required stamps are: the school stamp, the stamp of the Educational Zone and the Egyptian embassy in that foreign country.
  • Original document of Arabic Language, Religion and civics exams Thanaweya Amma (for Arab Nationals)
  • All documents issued from schools inside Egypt Must be stamped from Educational Zone – Ministry of Education

 

D. International Baccalaureate (IB) and other international certificates

 

  • Final IB Transcript should be in English Language, endorsed by the authorities concerned in Switzerland – Genève, the Egyptian Embassy in Switzerland or the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and الإدارة العامة للإمتحانات (Ministry of Education).
  • Final IB Graduation Diploma should be in English Language, endorsed by the authorities concerned in Switzerland – Genève, the Egyptian Embassy in Switzerland or the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and الإدارة العامة للإمتحانات (Ministry of Education). For certificates obtained from outside Egypt, required stamp of authorities concerned in Switzerland – Genève, the Egyptian Embassy in Switzerland
  • Edadeyya Certificate (National system) or proof of 12 years of schooling (International system) stamped by the school and certified by the Educational Zone the school belongs to. If the proof of 12 years of schooling is obtained from outside Egypt, required stamps are: the school stamp, the stamp of the Educational Zone and the Egyptian Embassy in that foreign country and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in country of school.
  • Arab Nationals obtaining their High School certificate from Egypt have to submit Original documents of Arabic Language, Religion and Civics exams - Thanaweya Amma (University graduation requirement).
  • All documents issued from schools inside Egypt Must be stamped from Educational Zone – Ministry of Education.

 

E. Secondary school certificates from other Arab countries

 

  • Original Thanaweya Amma Certificate stamped by the Egyptian Embassy of the certificate’s country of origin. (No certified copies will be accepted).
  • Students applying with a Saudi Arabian Thanaweya Amma must submit the original stamped certificates of Grade 11 and Grade 12.
  • Saudi Arabian Thanaweya Amma must be presented with شهادة اختبار القدرات
  • Students obtaining their Thanaweya Amma from Yemen must submit proof of 12 years of schooling stamped by the school and certified by the Educational Zone the school belongs to.
