Emeritus Professor and Chairman of Internal Medicine and Founding Chairman of the Kasr-El-Aini Kidney and Dialysis Center at Cairo University. Former Chairman of the Medical Sector at the Supreme Council of Medical Universities and the National Medical Board’s Central Committee. Editor/Chapter author of 42 international textbooks and 200 research papers. Recipient of the Egyptian Nile and State Appreciation Awards, International Award of the American Society of Kidney Disease, and Rosco Robinson educational Award of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN). Founding President of the African Association of Nephrology, and former President of the Egyptian and Arab Societies of Nephrology and Transplantation and ISN Secretary-General and director of the International Fellowship and Sister Renal Center Programs.
