Professor Ahmed Zewail invited to become a member of a United Nations Scientific Advisory Board

In recognition of Professor Zewail’s contributions and role, the Secretary General of the UN has invited him to become a member of a Scientific Advisory Board.

The creation of the Board was one of the recommendations from the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability , which was formed in the lead-up to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) held in Brazil in June 2012.

The central function of the Board is to provide advice on science, technology and innovation for sustainable development to the Secretary General and executive heads of relevant United Nation organizations. The Board is comprised of internationally renowned scientists representing the various fields of natural, social and human sciences.
