Description

The Physics of Earth and Universe program at Zewail City is looking for an astrophysicist with a solid background in physics and astrophysics to teach advanced undergraduate courses in astrophysics, including: Stellar Structure and Evolution, Compact Objects and High Energy Astrophysics, Galactic and Extragalactic Astronomy. Courses are taught in an analytical, calculus-based approach including solutions to differential equations in topics such as Hydrostatic equilibrium, equations of stellar structure, Lane-Emden equation and the polytope model, Saha equation, radiative processes in astrophysics, stars supported by quantum degeneracy pressure.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field at the time of application.
  • Record of research in particle physics, supported by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated potential and commitment to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated potential for developing and sustaining an externally funded research program involving students leading to publications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.
  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • Prior teaching experience at the university level with evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Research focus in contemporary areas in particle physics.
  • Significant record of publications in refereed journals.
  • Evidence of obtaining extramural grants.
  • Experience in engaging undergraduate and graduate students in research
