Center for Genomics has been Awarded the Prestigious CRP-ICGEB Grant


Dr. Menattallah Elserafy, a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Prof. Sherif El-Khamisy at the Center for Genomics received the CRP-ICGEB Early Career Grant (approx. 60,000 Euro) intended to fund young researchers under 40 with an outstanding potential conducting research in a top-notch environment, who spent a minimum of 2 years abroad and recently returned to an ICGEB Member State. This year, 181 applications were evaluated from all member states and 19 have been accepted (6 of which are Early Career Grants). The grant is the only one received by Egypt in 2018.



The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) is an intergovernmental organization. Established as a special project of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). It provides a scientific and educational environment of the highest standard and conducts innovative research in life sciences for the benefit of developing countries. The ICGEB now counts over 60 member states.
