Center for Materials Science participates in organizing research training course

The nanomaterials laboratory at the Center for Materials Science (CMS) coorganized the one-month-long Nanobiomedical Research Training Course in collaboration with the American University in Cairo (AUC), the Medical Experimental Research Center (MERC) at Mansoura University and the German University in Cairo (GUC) from April 26 to May 22, 2014.

The course is designed for medical, biomedical, life sciences, and materials science graduates, in addition to graduates in related scientific fields.

“It provides a supportive learning environment within the newly established MERC of Mansoura University, the biology department at the AUC, the GUC, in addition to the CMS at Zewail City of Science and Technology”, said Dr. Ibrahim El-Sherbiny, associate professor of nanomaterials scienceat the University of Science and Technology at Zewail City and the coordinator of the course.

The course enhanced both the theoretical background and the hands-on skills of the participants. It also covered many topics that include: smart nanomaterials for controlled drug delivery, smart nanomaterials for imaging and diagnosis, and the pre-designed nano-scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

Due to the positive feedback from the course’s participants, El-Sherbiny, with all the other collaborators, will hold a second round of the course in September 2014.
