Professor Sherif El-Khamisy represents Zewail City at BIOCHEM Cairo 2014

Professor Sherif El-Khamisy, director of the Center for Genomics at Zewail City, gave a lecture at the plenary session of the Annual Meeting of the Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department (BIOCHEM Cairo 2014). The event was held at Kasr Al Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University on March 22, 2014.

The lecture, titled Breaking and Sealing the Human Genome: A Question of Balance, addressed the continuous threats the human genome is subjected to during its normal metabolic activities, which might result in human diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration and immunodeficiency. These threats may also contribute to complications associated with diseases that have a high social impact such as diabetes, and reproductive and cardiovascular disorders.

BIOCHEM Cairo 2014 is a platform for the gathering of scientists specialized in the areas of biochemistry and molecular biology research. The meeting aims to bring together academic and clinical scientists with scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research findings about all aspects of biochemistry and molecular biology, and to discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted.
